Barbara Archer Gallery is pleased to join again with the Atlanta Printmakers Studio and this year with Erikson Clock, to present the Atlanta Print Biennial, an international exhibition of works on paper, November 15 - December 7, 2013. The opening reception is Friday, November 15, 7-10pm at Erikson Clock, 364 Nelson Street, Atlanta, GA.
In 2011 the inaugural Atlanta Print Biennial, organized by the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, celebrated 75 works from throughout the country and three continents to establish Atlanta as the southeast's leader in supporting print media. ArtsATL writer Catherine Fox described the show, "to attest to the vigor of the artists committed to the medium, who continue to experiment with ways to expand its language and use that language to express their wide-ranging thoughts."
Atlanta Printmakers Studio (APS) was founded in 2005 to promote the fine art of printmaking by offering access to a well-equipped studio and diverse educational programs that foster the development of printmaking as a vibrant and progressive art form. APS is the only printshop of its kind in Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia, providing studio space and equipment for artist renters and offers community outreach through classes, workshops and exhibitions in order to enhance the understanding of and appreciation for fine art printmaking. APS welcomes all artists and the general public to join in creating, learning about, and collecting fine art prints.
The Atlanta Print Biennial serves to extend the mission of APS to a wider demographic and help promote an understanding of print processes and raise awareness of national and international trends in art and works on paper.
This year's distinguished juror is Beauvais Lyons, Chancellor Professor and James R. Cox Professor of Art, School of Art, University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
This exhibit is supported in part by the Goat Farm's AIP (Arts Investment Package).
