| Outsider artist Art Prostkoff was born in Brooklyn,
N. Y. and now lives and works in New York City. His mother is a
retired teacher and his father was a physician. In 1988, Prostkoff
was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Through Prostkoff's affiliation with the Bronx REAL (Rehabilitation
Education in the Art of Living), he has refined his artistic technique.
His intricate and tightly organized drawings, composed in marker,
graphite, and ball-point pen, feature aerial views of both real
and imagined places. His work includes a series dedicated to his
fictional Empire City, based loosely on New York City.. Included
are portrayals of the Empire City Municipal Plant, Empire City
Municipal Sewage Plant, Empire City Cineplex, Empire City Airport,
hospital, botanical gardens and more.
