Terry Turrell, of Seattle, is one of the
most notable of self-taught artists. His characteristic surface
texture, combined with the elements of human interaction and emotion
make for a powerful visual impact. Seeing his work first hand pulls
the viewer into his scenes, through the colors and dimensions used
in his paintings. His style came about through experimentation with
the surface of his pieces, and this facet defines the dark but soulful
feeling of many of Turrell's works.
