leisa rich is an experimental visual artist who transforms a variety of materials in unique ways, using techniques that include free motion stitching — otherwise known as machine embroidery, a method of "painting" and building texture using sewing thread on a sewing machine — and dyeing, painting, melting, sculpting, hand embroidering, 3d printing, resin casting and much, much more. 

rich has master of fine arts, bachelor of fine arts, and bachelor of education in art degrees. she has exhibited in notable museums, galleries, and arts centers, and has been featured in many televised interviews. her work is published in numerous books, magazines, and on line, she writes reviews and articles for national and international magazines, and has recently published a children's book and a series of how-to art books. she has taught art for 47 years.

rich has art works in the permanent collections of delta airlines inc., hilton hotels, emory healthcare, emory women’s health, the kamm foundation, the dallas museum of art, the university of texas, the university of north texas, the works: atlanta, and in private collections across the u.s., canada, and the eu. she is a 2019 recipient of a distinguished fellowship, fulton county arts council, atlanta, georgia. 

recently, rich’s exhibitions include a feature in designto in toronto, ontario, canada, january-march 2022, where she will create a large installation at the stantec architecture headquarters, and she also has a prototype in the umbra competition which will be on display at the umbra concept store during designto. 

leisa rich recently moved back to her home country, canada, and lives and works on a quiet farming island in ontario that is accessible only by ferry, where she is building a large studio and gallery that, upon completion in spring 2022, will be open to the public.
